To make sure your voice is heard, submit your nominations by the extended deadline of Wednesday, September 18, 2024. You are welcome to submit multiple nomination forms and nominate yourself, but you can only submit one nomination at a time.

The UEC serves as the official voice of the user community in its interactions with ARM management. Members are charged with providing objective, timely advice and recommendations to ARM leadership and serving as contacts for ARM users to voice their thoughts.

The UEC consists of scientific users of ARM data selected according to popular vote by other ARM users. The committee includes members who represent a range of science disciplines served by ARM. These members serve four-year terms.

Also, the UEC includes an early career representative, so as you consider nominations, please think about proposing a student candidate currently pursuing a PhD or an early career scientist who is within five years of obtaining a PhD as of January 1, 2025. The early career representative may be associated with any of the science themes and will serve a two-year term. If this person is also elected to lead the representation of one of the science themes, they will serve up to four years, and a separate dedicated early career representative may not be selected in this two-year cycle.

All members are expected to have been active ARM users within the last five years.

At present, 14 UEC members represent constituents from seven science domains and four cross-cutting themes (see the UEC Charter for additional information). Each UEC group takes a slightly different approach for providing input to ARM. Currently, the members also participate in subgroups that aim to help broaden community outreach. The subgroups focus on enhancing communication with the modeling and satellite communities, measurement uncertainty and communicating calibrations, and undergraduate engagement with a focus on diversity. Check out past “From the UEC” blog posts to learn more about their activities.

The members leaving the UEC at the end of the current two-year election cycle are Susannah Burrows, Scott Collis, Jessie Creamean, Jennifer Delamere, Yunyan Zhang, and Youtong Zheng.

Nominations are the first in a two-part process to select new committee members. Following the nomination phase, an election will be held during the latter half of October 2024. Terms for elected members shall begin January 1, 2025.
