ARMBESTNS

Station-based Surface Products

External VAP

ARMBESTNS data is a twin data product of the ARMBE 2-Dimensional Gridded Surface Dataset (ARMBE2DGRID). Unlike the ARMBE2DGRID dataset, the ARMBESTNS data are reported at the original site locations and show the original information (except for the interpolation over time). Therefore, the users have the flexibility to process the data with an approach more suitable for their applications. The output data is reported every hour at different site locations. It includes the following products as inputs: Surface Meteorological Instrumentation (MET), Oklahoma Mesonet (OKM), Kansas State University Mesonet (KSUMESO), Data Quality Assessment for ARM Radiation Data (QCRAD), Geostationary Operational Environmental Satellites (GOES), Microwave Radiometer (MWR), Best-Estimate Fluxes from EBBR Measurements and Bulk Aerodynamics Calculations (BAEBBR), Eddy Correlation Flux Measurement System (ECOR), and Soil Water and Temperature Systems (SWATS). A set of stringent Quality Controls is applied to remove suspicious data in the input data.

This data product is normally used to compare with the model output at site locations and study sub-grid spatial variability of surface turbulent and radiative fluxes.

More details are documented in the technical report.
