EPCAPE-PTRMS

EPCAPE-Proton Transfer Reaction Mass Spectrometer

15 May 2023 - 15 June 2023

Lead Scientist: James N. Smith

Observatory: AMF

A proton transfer reaction time-of-flight mass spectrometer (PTR-ToF-MS,

model 8000, Ionicon Analytik) will be deployed to Mt. Soledad on 15 May 2023 for the measurement of volatile organic compounds (VOCs). The instrument will be installed in the same ARM guest container that the Smith group will use for the EPCAPE-UPP campaign. The Smith group will provide the sample inlet and will operate and maintain the instrument. A complete VOC mass spectrum will be recorded every 10 sec, continuously. Calibrations using a traceable VOC mixture will be performed on-site periodically during the campaign. Measurements will end on 15 June 2023.
