ARM Facility Seeking Radar Engineer

The ARM Southern Great Plains site will be home to a new radar engineer position for the ARM Facility.A radar engineer position for the Atmospheric Radiation Measurement (ARM) Climate Research Facility, located at the Southern Great Plains (SGP) near Lamont, Oklahoma, and the second ARM Mobile Facility (AMF2) sites is now available with Native Energy & Technology, Inc.. ARM sites include a broad array of instrumentation, including radars, lidars, radiometers, and meteorological sensors. The radar engineer will be responsible for performing analysis of radar data to assess the operational status of radars in the ARM radar network at SGP and AMF2 and communicating results and recommendations to project managers, other engineers, and scientists on a routine basis.

The successful candidate must possess a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree or higher from an Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology university, with technical expertise and experience in relevant theories, principles, and concepts. A minimum of 2-3 years experience with a BS, a Master’s degree with 0-2 years experience, or a Ph.D. is required. Preferred candidates will have a background in:

  • Pulse Doppler radar
  • Radar signal processing
  • Computer hardware/software integration
  • System design/integration
  • Communications theory
  • Electromagnetics
  • Data analysis software (MATLAB, IDL, etc.)
  • Linux in a real-time environment.

In addition, candidates should possess strong communication (written and oral) skills, including technical writing, and be a team player with an ability to work independently. Excellent analytical skills and enthusiasm for the work is desired. The successful candidate must be willing to travel for up to several weeks at a time. Due to export control issues, U.S. citizenship is required.
