This month, Nancy Burleigh closed the book on her 35-year career at Pacific Northwest National Laboratory, the last 20 of which she devoted to the ARM Program. Nancy helped prepare the very first proposal for the ARM Program in 1989. She worked closely with program leaders in editing and producing the document that would guide the development of the ARM sites in Oklahoma, Alaska, and the tropics. Since then, Nancy has been a fixture on the ARM Communications Team, using her editing expertise to help researchers improve their journal articles and ARM communications products gain their reputation for quality. Nancy always shared her valuable historical perspective with new staff, and her familiar presence will be missed by everyone at the annual Science Team Meeting, which she played a major part in organizing the last 19 years. Happy trails to Nancy – wherever they may lead!
Speaking of new staff, Dana Dupont recently joined the ARM Communications Team to help fill the gap left by Nancy and meet the program’s technical communications demands. Dana gained extensive editing and writing experience from previous work on environment, safety, and health documentation, as well as software and training materials while living in Houston, Texas. She has a Master in Liberal Arts from the University of St. Thomas and a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Texas at Austin. Please join us in welcoming Dana to the ARM team.
