AErosol RObotic NETwork (AERONET)
ARM is a collaborator on the AERONET project, which provides a long-term, continuous, and readily accessible public domain database of aerosol optical, microphysical, and radiative properties for aerosol research and characterization, validation of satellite retrievals, and synergism with other databases. This international network imposes standardization of instruments, calibration, processing, and distribution.
AmeriFlux Network
Field sites in the AmeriFlux Network, including ones operated by ARM, measure ecosystem carbon dioxide, water, and energy fluxes in North, Central, and South America. ARM flux data are available from the network’s archive, which is supported by DOE’s Office of Science. The AmeriFlux Management Project works with field site principal investigators and managers to standardize, quality-check, and process data into forms that scientists can use to examine crucial linkages between ecosystem processes and climate responses.
Arctic Data Center
As the primary data and software repository for the Arctic section of NSF’s Office of Polar Programs, this center aims to help the research community reproducibly preserve and discover all products of NSF-funded science in the Arctic. Measurements from ARM instrument deployments in the Arctic are available from the center to augment other data sets produced around the region.
World Radiation Monitoring Center (WMRC)
The WMRC is the central archive of the Baseline Surface Radiation Network (BSRN), which is under the umbrella of the World Climate Research Programme and the Global Energy and Water Cycle Exchanges project. Within BSRN, scientists review and update radiation data standards to make sure that the highest-quality measurements are being collected with current technologies. Data from ARM and other member networks that meet these standards are archived and made freely available through the WMRC.
Year of Polar Prediction (YOPP) Data Portal
YOPP, which took place from mid-2017 to late 2022, coordinated intensive worldwide observational and modeling efforts as part of a long-term initiative to improve polar research and forecasting. ARM participated in several YOPP-endorsed efforts, including campaigns in Alaska, Greenland, Norway, Antarctica, and the Arctic and Southern oceans. The YOPP Data Portal provides metadata and links to data generated during YOPP.
